Today marks my completion of yet another lap around the Sun. Yup, that comes to a grand total of 31 laps and I'm not even WINDED, yet!

As I begin my 32nd lap I find myself measuring my accomplishments and finding a very real sense of fulfillment. I married my jr. high school sweetheart, I've been blessed with three of the most fantastic children I could ever have requested, and I'm still drawing comics. Really, things are going great and there's only the future ahead. There are pages waiting to be written, artwork waiting to be created, ideas waiting to be thought up and I get to share it with my family.

It's true, after your 21st birthday... everything else just seems to pale in comparison to the luster of your childhood birthdays.... but if you choose to never grow up COMPLETELY... you get to carry some of that luster with you forever.

Happy Birthday to any other folks celebrating their laps around the Sun today... and if you're still in mid-lap... keep going. Your future's not going anywhere until you get there.

My oldest son will be entering the harrowing world of public education before the end of the month. My wife and I are beside ourselves in anticipation and anxiety. We have done all we can to prepare him for his adventure into kindergarten with all of our experiences, both good and bad. I'm hoping that my boy will have his mother's passion for school and my knack for retaining book knowledge. I'm taking a week off from work in order to offer my wife the support she'll inevitably need and give myself some composure time.
